LAS VEGAS (AP) - Prosecutors are filing a murder charge against a Nellis Air Force Base airman who is accused of killing his wife of less than a year at their home at the base outside Las Vegas.
Rickey Lee Massey Jr. is accused of strangling 34-year-old Theresa Rivera during a struggle in their kitchen late Jan. 16, and then taking an apparent overdose of medication or sleeping pills.
Massey told investigators that he and his wife were getting a divorce and that he had been drinking when they fought.
Police say Rivera's children from an earlier marriage, ages 13 and 10, were home during the fight.
The children were at school Friday when base security officers found Rivera's body.
Massey is being held at the Clark County jail pending an arraignment date.
