LAS VEGAS (AP) - Charges have been filed against a 20-year-old man more than a year after he allegedly shot and killed a 17-year-old girl at a Las Vegas house party.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Demetrius Black was charged with murder Wednesday in the death of Betty "Jay" Pinkney.
The girl was dancing with friends at a house party last January in the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley when a fight broke out.
Police say Black and his friends were kicked out of the house, but returned and sprayed random gunfire at the crowd. Pinkney was fatally shot, while 32-year-old Karen Sinatra was injured.
Black has been in jail since last March on unrelated robbery charges. The Review-Journal reports detectives linked him to Pinkney's death when they recovered a gun.
