LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Las Vegas have identified a motorcyclist killed in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way motorist who faces a felony driving under the influence charge.
The Clark County coroner said Monday that 58-year-old Jim Edd Burchette of Las Vegas was killed in the Sunday afternoon crash on Nellis Boulevard near Cheyenne Avenue.
A ruling on the cause and manner of Burchette's death is pending.
Jail records show that 40-year-old Prentiss Bates is being held pending a court appearance Tuesday on charges including DUI and driving without a license.
Police say Bates wasn't hurt in the crash.
He's accused of being behind the wheel of a Ford Focus that crossed a center median and slammed into Burchette's custom 2006 motorcycle. Burchette was killed at the scene.
