LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a 22-year-old motorcyclist who had fled from an officer crashed into a van shortly after and was killed.
Authorities say the crash happened about 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Linn Lane.
Police say an officer had tried to stop the motorcycle about a mile away from where the crash eventually happened, but the biker drove off and the officer didn't pursue him.
Witnesses told police the motorcycle was speeding without its lights on when it struck a van that was making a left turn.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and died on the scene.
Two people in the van had minor injuries. The van also hit a Ford Explorer after the crash, but the driver wasn't injured.
