LAS VEGAS (AP) - Reports show Child Protective Services have previously investigated a mother charged with shooting her 11-year-old son in the head in northwest Las Vegas.
Disclosure reports obtained by KLAS-TV show there were at least two complaints of possible child abuse or neglect involving 31-year-old Shavon Aguilar in 2002 and earlier this year.
The reports include few details but show the earlier case was closed in 2005 after steps were taken to protect a child. The most recent allegation was found to be unsubstantiated and that case was closed in February.
Aguilar is being held at the Clark County Detention Center under the name Shavon Carrillo after police say she shot her son last week.
Prosecutor Robert Daskas says the boy is still hospitalized in critical condition and not expected to improve.
