LAS VEGAS (AP) - A North Las Vegas convenience store owner has pleaded guilty to buying tens of thousands of cigarettes on the black market.

Amer "Sunny" Ramo pleaded guilty Tuesday to receipt, possession and purchase of contraband cigarettes after prosecutors say he was caught in an undercover sting operation this summer.

Police say they started investigating after they heard Ramo was buying goods from people who had stolen them from other stores.

Prosecutors say Ramo bought some 50,000 cigarettes for about $1,000 after being told taxes hadn't been paid on them.

As part of a plea agreement, Ramo has to give up gambling, liquor and business licenses and sell three convenience stores he owns, including two Sunny Markets and JB Liquors.

He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
