LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas Strip procession and a memorial service at a Henderson megachurch are set for a 36-year-old police search-and-rescue officer killed lifting a stranded hiker to safety from Mount Charleston.
Central Christian Church officials say up to 2,900 people can be seated in the main auditorium for the Monday service for Officer David Vanbuskirk.
A police procession is being planned to run south on Las Vegas Boulevard to the 215 Beltway and east to the U.S. 95 freeway.
It'll end at the in the church off Russell Road.
Vanbuskirk died July 22 when he fell from a helicopter hoist line while the hiker was being lifted to safety from a mountain ledge about 30 miles northwest of downtown Las Vegas.
