LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 41-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a
drunken driving charge in the death of a 12-year-old
trick-or-treater in Las Vegas.
Justin Caramanica pleaded Monday to felony driving under the
influence involving death. Court officials say a reckless driving
charge against him was dropped.
The crash about 8:30 p.m. Halloween night killed 12-year-old
Faith Love as she was crossing a street outside a crosswalk near
West Sahara Avenue and South Hualapai Way. Love had dressed up as a Native American princess for a night of trick-or-treating with
Police say Caramanica's blood-alcohol percentage was just under
the .08 percent blood-alcohol limit for driving in Nevada, but
Caramanica might also have taken prescription drugs.
