Man Hurt in Attack on Family Forgives Assailant

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Forgiveness is the message from a Las Vegas
boxing coach who was nearly bludgeoned to death in a hammer attack that left his wife and their daughter dead at their home.

In words slowed by brain injury and his own emotion, Arturo
Martinez on Thursday called forgiveness one of God's commandments.

But he says the man who attacked his family also must face
justice.

Young sons Cristopher and Alejandro were at his side during
Martinez's appearance at the freshly painted Real KO Boxing Gym in
North Las Vegas.

It's been 88 days since Martinez was hurt early April 15 and
Ignacia "Yadira" Martinez and 10-year-old Karla Martinez were
killed.

A 22-year-old man who Martinez didn't know has pleaded not
guilty and awaits a death penalty trial in the attack.
