LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say an adopted son recently discharged from the Army is jailed and his ex-felon uncle is sought in an Interstate 15 shooting that left a motorist wounded in what investigators described as a divorce murder plot.
Records show that 21-year-old Michael Bessey was arrested on attempted murder and battery charges, and police say 39-year-old Richard Pearson is sought in the shooting that happened before dawn Wednesday on I-15 about 30 miles north of downtown Las Vegas.
The victim, 49-year-old Robert Bessey, was shot in the back of the neck from a vehicle that pulled alongside as he drove toward Las Vegas. He underwent surgery and is recovering.
Police say Michael Bessey alleges a history of abuse by Robert Bessey against him and his mother.
