LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Las Vegas say a 47-year-old man is facing felony charges and an alleged accomplice is sought for questioning in the theft of more than $85,000 worth of brass sidewalk light fixtures along a downtown thoroughfare.
Court records show that Michael Sean Payne was arrested July 12 on theft and stolen property charges and has since been freed from jail pending a court date in November.
City spokesman Jace Radke said Thursday that city marshals are seeking 31-year-old Antwon Maurice Simmons.
Officials say the 147 missing light fixtures were installed during the 1990s to illuminate trees along Fourth Street.
Radke says each fixture costs about $580.
Investigators think Simmons and Payne sold the brass for scrap to various recyclers until employees at one firm became suspicious and contacted authorities.
