LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 27-year-old man who was critically injured after a confrontation with officers faces a murder charge in the stabbing death of a woman in Las Vegas.

Nathan Benson faces one count of murder in the Sunday death of 44-year-old Shanna Ralston, who's also identified as Shanna Fernandez in a police report.

Police say two tipsters helped them find Benson Monday night. Officers who surrounded him say he charged at them with a knife, and two officers shot him.

Benson was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

Police say Ralston had been allowing Benson to sleep on her couch until he found a place to live. He's accused of attacking her in a neighborhood near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard.

Benson also faces charges in the confrontation with police.
