LAS VEGAS (AP) - A motorist whose pickup truck crossed the landscaped median of a Las Vegas expressway and slammed head-on into a car, killing two people, is facing felony driving under the influence charges.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said Friday that 51-year-old Gustavo Garcia-Martinez of North Las Vegas remains hospitalized following the head-on crash a little after 4 p.m. Feb. 5 on Summerlin Parkway.
Garcia-Martinez is due for an initial court appearance next Thursday in Las Vegas Justice Court. His name is also listed in court records as Martinez-Garcia.
The NHP says 20-year-old Savanna Rae Gonzales and her 31-year-old passenger, Frank Anthony Spenia III, were killed when Garcia-Martinez's Chevrolet Silverado pickup slammed into their Toyota Corolla sedan.
A crash report says the Toyota skidded before the crash.
