LAS VEGAS (AP) - A judge set bail at $60,000 for a 25-year-old man being held on felony charges after he allegedly walked into a jail lobby in downtown Las Vegas and attacked guards with an aluminum baseball bat.
Michael Marcel Law told a judge on Monday that he understood the charges against him and couldn't afford a lawyer.
Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Diana Sullivan appointed a public defender to Law's case.
Law faces attempted murder, battery with a weapon and burglary charges in the Wednesday morning incident at the Clark County Detention Center.
A corrections officer was hit in the head, but helped subdue Law before being hospitalized and released.
Police say Law told investigators he was upset about how police handled a Sept. 7 complaint that he had been robbed.
