LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police believe a 50-year-old Las Vegas man may have been under the influence when his Ford Escape drove up onto an island and slammed into a stoplight post.
Authorities say Lee Turner was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition after the crash on Tuesday, just after midnight.
Police say Turner's SUV was on Cheyenne Avenue approaching Rainbow Boulevard when it veered onto an island between the right travel lane and right turn lane. Officials say the vehicle's front end was severely damaged after hitting the post.
Police say Turner faces a DUI charge. The crash is still under investigation.
