LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a man who was changing a tire on the side of a Las Vegas freeway is critically injured after a pickup rear-ended his vehicle.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials say the driver that hit the disabled vehicle may have been impaired when he crashed on U.S. 95 a little after 5 a.m. Monday.
Trooper Jeremie Elliott tells KVVU-TV the force of the crash pushed the stopped vehicle into the center median, scattering debris in the road and forcing troopers to close southbound lanes for more than an hour.
The injured man was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.
Officials say the other vehicle's driver stayed on the scene.
