LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a woman who police say was drowned by her boyfriend in a Las Vegas swimming pool.
Clark County coroner's officials say 56-year-old Karen Vernel Henever died of drowning by forced submersion.
Police say her 51-year-old boyfriend, Neal Huff, called police Saturday morning to say Henever was dead and he needed medical attention after trying to kill himself.
Huff told police he and his girlfriend were in their home when an argument turned into a physical altercation. They continued the altercation outside and fell into the backyard pool.
Huff says he held her underwater until she was unconscious, but felt ashamed of what he'd done and tried to commit suicide.
Huff was examined at Spring Valley Hospital and later booked into jail on suspicion of murder.
