Lawyer Seeking Judgeship Reprimanded by Bar

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A defense lawyer running for judge in North Las Vegas has been reprimanded by the Nevada State Bar after prosecutors alleged he tried to bribe a witness to change testimony in a criminal case.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Monday the June reprimand came after the Clark County district attorney's office sought to remove Jonathan MacArthur's from defending a man in a 2010 kidnapping, robbery and battery case.

An aide said MacArthur was in court Monday. He did not immediately respond to messages.

MacArthur is seeking election in November as a North Las Vegas justice of the peace.

Prosecutors alleged he told the victim the defendant's parents would pay restitution if the victim changed his testimony.

MacArthur later acknowledged the restitution offer and withdrew from the case.
