LAS VEGAS (AP) - A lawyer appointed to represent a 27-year-old ex-convict and murder suspect says he's still hospitalized and heavily medicated after being shot by Las Vegas police during his arrest.
A Las Vegas judge on Thursday postponed Nathan Allen Benson's arraignment to May 16 on murder, assault with a weapon and resisting an officer charges.
Benson was critically wounded by police during his arrest late Monday while he was sought in the Sunday stabbing of 44-year-old Shanna Fernandez.
Officers say Benson was shot when he charged toward officers while wielding two kitchen knives.
Records show Benson was released from Nevada state prison last July.
Police say Fernandez, who also used the last name Ralston, was letting Benson sleep on her couch at her home while he looked for a place to live
