LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas woman is suing an online dating service for nearly $10 million, claiming it set her up with a man who brutally attacked her.

Mary Kay Beckman, in her lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, accuses Match.com of failing to disclose the dangers of online dating.

Company officials didn't immediately return phone calls.

According to the complaint, Match.com's advertising lulls women and men into a false sense of security and the dating service is unsafe.

Beckman broke off her relationship with Wade Ridley after only knowing him for eight days.

Ridley acknowledged to police that he later attacked her with a knife in January 2011, then stomped on her head and neck.

Ridley was sentenced for the crime and died in prison last year.
