LAS VEGAS (AP) - The family company that owns the Las Vegas Sun is launching a new free weekly called The Sunday.
Greenspun Media Group editor and publisher Brian Greenspun says the Sunday magazine is not intended to replace the Sun's daily print coverage of Las Vegas, but will instead complement it with smart reporting comparable to Time or Newsweek.
The future of the Sun remains uncertain. Last summer, three of the four Greenspun siblings agreed to end a joint operating arrangement with the company that owns the rival Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Brian Greenspun sued to block the agreement, and said the end of the arrangement could kill the Sun. Greenspun has sued, and the matter remains unresolved.
The Sunday will debut on February 9, with 65,000 copies distributed to 1,500 locations.
