LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police shot and killed an attempted-murder suspect and critically injured another man near Clark High School.
Police say the suspect fired at officers after they found him leaving a central Las Vegas apartment Friday afternoon and joining the other man.
Two officers returned fire, and the suspect and the other man were struck. The suspect was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other man was listed in critical condition at a hospital.
The suspect, who wasn't immediately identified, was accused of shooting his girlfriend in the face at close range with a handgun.
No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire. Investigators say a woman seen with the suspect and other man has been questioned. The 3:30 p.m. shooting remains under investigation.
