LAS VEGAS (AP) - A federal judge has denied a request for a second hearing on an effort by the editor-publisher of the Las Vegas Sun to block buyout attempts by the corporate owners of the rival Las Vegas Review-Journal.
U.S. District Judge James Mahan said in his Wednesday order that he's "unpersuaded" that anything has changed since he ruled three weeks ago that it's premature to issue an order blocking talks about a sale.
Attorneys for Sun Editor-Publisher Brian Greenspun are seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction to stop Stephens Media LLC. They argue a federally overseen joint operating agreement is at stake.
The Sun is distributed as a daily section of the Review-Journal.
Brian Greenspun opposes a Stephens Media offer to buy the Sun from Greenspun sibling trustees.
