LAS VEGAS (AP) - Clark County Family Court Judge Steven Jones, who was indicted on federal fraud charges in October, now is facing allegations of misconduct stemming from a relationship he had last year with a prosecutor who appeared before him.
The Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline on Friday filed a 12-count complaint accusing Jones of violating Nevada's Judicial Code of Conduct in his handling of the romantic relationship with former Deputy District Attorney Lisa Willardson.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the complaint alleges Willardson "actively litigated" cases before Jones while the relationship was taking place, and Jones failed to disqualify himself from cases involving her.
Attorney James Jimmerson, who represents Jones, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
Willardson says the charges are the product of a "political witch hunt."
