LAS VEGAS (AP) - A veteran Internal Revenue Service employee in Nevada alleges he's been targeted for criminal investigation because he raised bias claims earlier this year.
Anthony M. Zecchino alleges in documents filed May 31 in Las Vegas federal court that he's been victimized by derogatory and "ethnically inappropriate" remarks about his Italian heritage, and supervisors failed to take his complaints seriously.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that about a month after Zecchino filed a U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint, the U.S. attorney's office in Las Vegas notified him that he was being investigated on allegations of unlawful acts and theft of government funds.
Zecchino names U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew as the defendant in his lawsuit.
He's seeking a jury trial and more than $100,000 in damages.
