HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - Police say a 20-year-old Henderson man is dead after crashing his motorcycle and striking a light pole.

The accident happened late Thursday morning on Windmill Parkway near Arroyo Grande Boulevard.

Police say the victim apparently lost control of the motorcycle and struck the center median. He was thrown from the bike and struck a light pole.

The rider was taken to Sunrise Hospital Trauma for treatment but died of his injuries.

Police add that he was the registered owner of the bike but did not have a motorcycle driver's license.

A preliminary investigation suggests speed was a factor in the crash. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected.

The victim's name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
