LAS VEGAS (AP) - Arraignment was postponed for a 40-year-old Las Vegas chef who police say described in gruesome detail how he killed his wife with a meat cleaver and knives in their apartment kitchen.
Richard Magdayo Dahan appeared confused Wednesday and Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis delayed his initial appearance to Thursday to obtain a Tagalog language interpreter.
Dahan said he may also try to hire his own lawyer.
He's jailed without bail on a first-degree murder charge in the Friday slaying of his 28-year-old wife, Daisy Casalta Dahan.
Several of Daisy Dahan's co-workers were in court. Friend Elizabeth Fisher said outside they had feared Daisy Dahan was in a dangerously abusive marriage before she was killed.
They're trying to raise money to send her body back to the Philippines.
