LAS VEGAS (AP) - The landmark hotel off U.S. 93 near Hoover Dam and Lake Mead will soon have a different look.
The owner of a chain of "Dotty's" storefront slot machine taverns is buying the 300-room Hacienda Hotel & Casino, renovating the property, and renaming it the Hoover Dam Lodge. The hotel is just outside of Boulder City, and a 15 minute drive from the dam.
The sale to Nevada Restaurant Services Inc. is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, after state gambling regulators and local officials approve the deal.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1bYfMSg ) that the Hacienda will close for a week for remodeling, and then reopen with its new name shortly after Christmas. The 17-story Hacienda has 370 rooms and a 19,000-square-foot casino.
