NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Police in North Las Vegas are looking for a gunman who mortally wounded a 20-year-old driver who then crashed his car into landscaping in a residential neighborhood.
Officer Chrissie Coon says police found the injured driver after his black Pontiac Grand Am crashed a little after 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Rainbow Draw Avenue and Goldfield Street. That's near Tropical Parkway and Commerce Street.
The driver was pronounced dead of a head wound at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. His name wasn't immediately made public.
Police believe the driver argued with his assailant, who opened fire with a handgun from outside the car and then fled in a vehicle.
Coon says police don't think the shooting was a random act, but she says it's too early to determine a motive.
