Fugitive in Utah Police Injury Case Held in Vegas

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a fugitive accused of running over a Utah police officer with a vehicle in 1999 has been arrested after he was found working at a Las Vegas Strip casino.

Records show that a 36-year-old man known to police in Orem, Utah, as Reinhold Neumann is being held Friday at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas under the name Joaquin Lopez-Caraballo.

Police in Las Vegas say Lopez-Caraballo was arrested Aug. 11 on a drunken driving charge and released from jail.

He was arrested again Thursday at the Imperial Palace hotel-casino. His job wasn't specified.

Now, he's due for an extradition hearing Tuesday in Clark County District Court.

Police Sgt. Craig Martinez in Orem says the man was wanted on several warrants in California and Utah.
