LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a fugitive arrested and jailed after exchanging gunfire with FBI SWAT agents in a standoff at a Las Vegas apartment complex was wanted on a murder charge in California.
Police say 37-year-old Rene A. Dendaas was arrested early Wednesday and booked into the Clark County jail in Las Vegas pending extradition to California.
He's sought in the March 11 slaying of a 42-year-old man sitting in his car in downtown San Bernardino, Calif.
FBI spokeswoman Bridget Pappas says a bullet, debris or shrapnel may have struck an FBI agent's ballistic vest during the shooting Tuesday evening at an apartment east of the Las Vegas Strip.
Pappas says the agent wasn't hurt.
Las Vegas police and FBI SWAT agents took Dendaas into custody several hours later.
