LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former prosecutor-turned-fugitive who handled the high-profile drug cases of celebrities Paris Hilton and Bruno Mars has been found dead in his Las Vegas home.
David Schubert recently completed a five-month stint in prison for crack cocaine possession. He was released in April.
Schubert's lawyer, Lou Schneier, says the 49-year-old was found sitting in his truck in the garage with the windows rolled down.
Schubert spent 10 years as a Clark County prosecutor, including a stint as a liaison to a federal drug task force.
Earlier this year, he fled to Mexico to avoid jail, but soon returned to the U.S. He told a judge he felt he'd been treated exceptionally harshly.
Schubert was isolated in prison for his own safety because of his history as a prosecutor.
