LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 22-year-old former substitute teacher is facing multiple felony charges after she was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy she taught at a Las Vegas school.
Tanikka Queen remained jailed Thursday pending an initial court appearance on charges including sexual assault of a child, kidnapping and lewdness.
Queen was arrested Tuesday. It wasn't immediately clear if she had an attorney.
Clark County School District spokeswoman Melinda Malone says Queen has been dropped from the substitute teaching roster.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that police recovered thousands of cellphone text messages between Queen and the eighth-grader, records of more than 100 voice calls and dozens of photographs.
Police were alerted by a parent of a female student who found text messages on the girl's phone referring to the affair.
