LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas officials say a class of 14 recruits won't be graduating from the fire academy after city leaders investigated claims that students cheated on a written exam.

The graduation was scheduled for Feb. 14, but was put on hold when the allegations surfaced. City officials say they're now scrapping the graduation altogether and will consider how to cover the loss of the recruits.

Las Vegas Chief Public Safety Officer Karen Coyne said integrity is a core value for the city, and officials won't compromise the character of the organization.

A city spokesman says officials will now begin recruiting another class for the 20-week program.
