LAS VEGAS (AP) - A federal review of Las Vegas police policies and procedures is resulting in 75 recommendations to change departmental practices, including when officers use deadly force.

Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie says the department has already adopted many of the changes called for by the federal Community Oriented Policing Services office.

That includes a declaration that the department respects the value of every human life.

Gillespie, Nevada U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden and COPS chief Bernard Melekian on Thursday outlined findings in a 154-page report resulting from a COPS review begun earlier this year.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People point to a Las Vegas Review-Journal investigation that tallied 142 people killed by police in the Las Vegas area since 1990.
