LAS VEGAS (AP) - Federal trial of a former Las Vegas physician-clinic owner and his office manager in a 2007 hepatitis C outbreak has been delayed until next year.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Tuesday that the postponement of trial for Dipak Desai and Tonya Rushing had been expected, because trial in state court has been delayed to April.
Federal trial had been set Nov. 20. But U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro on Friday set the new date May 7.
Desai and Rushing have pleaded not guilty to federal conspiracy and health care fraud charges stemming from the 2007 hepatitis C outbreak.
Desai and two nurse anesthetists have pleaded not guilty in state court to second-degree murder and other charges including racketeering, reckless disregard, criminal neglect of patients and insurance fraud.
