LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a 13-year-old boy killed in an explosion and house fire that also killed his father in the West Las Vegas neighborhood.
Clark County coroner's officials say Mirion Jackson was killed in the fire Thursday evening. Family members have identified his father as Henry Jackson.
Las Vegas Fire and Rescue officials say the father was working with gasoline from a boat parked in the carport when the fuel somehow ignited.
Officials say flames spread to the house where the teen was, but security bars on the doors and the windows prevented them from reaching him in time. He was later found unconscious and pronounced dead.
Crews say they rescued the teen's mother and took her to the hospital, along with two police officers who suffered apparent smoke inhalation.
