NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - North Las Vegas police say they've arrested a 19-year-old man accused of abuse that led to his 2-month-old baby's death.
Authorities say they arrested Joshua Chinn on suspicion of murder on Sept. 12, six months after his daughter was taken to University Medical Center.
Officials say they were initially told Chinn checked on his daughter in her crib and saw she was having trouble breathing, so family members called 911.
But police say doctors found evidence she'd been violently shaken. Witnesses also told police they'd seen Chinn slapping the girl in her face and biting her stomach in the weeks leading up to her death.
The girl died three days after she was taken to the hospital. An autopsy completed last month indicated her death was caused by abuse.
