LAS VEGAS (AP) - Family members are mourning the death of a teenage girl killed crossing a busy Las Vegas boulevard during the weekend.
Police are searching for the driver and vehicle that drove away after the crash.
The Clark County coroner said Monday that 17-year-old Alexis Monasterio died in the 12:10 a.m. Sunday crash on Charleston Boulevard about seven miles east of downtown Las Vegas.
Police said it appeared the vehicle was driving west.
There is no marked crosswalk at the scene, where friends lit candles late Sunday at an impromptu memorial.
Monasterio's parents, David and Claudia Montesario, told KVVU-TV Fox 5 that she had been due to graduate from culinary school this year and dreamed of opening a restaurant.
