Drowned Lake Mead Swimmer ID'd as Vegas Man

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Medical examiners in Las Vegas say a 30-year-old Las Vegas man whose body was found in Lake Mead drowned accidentally.

The Clark County coroner on Tuesday identified the victim as Curtis James Ficarrotta.

Las Vegas police divers found Ficarrotta's body Monday morning after friends reported that he disappeared beneath the water while swimming about 2 p.m. Sunday in a cove east of Callville Bay.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area officials say he wasn't wearing a life jacket at the time.

A search continues for a 35-year-old Chicago man who was last seen about 4 p.m. Thursday in the water in the Boulder Basin area of the lake between Painter's Cove and Castle Reef.
