PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) - The Nye County sheriff says one jail guard was fired and several others were disciplined after an investigation of the use of a Taser on a handcuffed inmate in the county lockup in Pahrump.
Sheriff Tony DeMeo said Wednesday that former deputy Dan Ellis was dismissed in February.
DeMeo says he reported the September 2012 incident to the FBI, which is investigating whether the inmate's civil rights were violated.
The inmate's name wasn't made public. DeMeo says he refused medical attention.
A Las Vegas Review-Journal report from sister paper the Pahrump Valley Times says six other deputies were disciplined.
DeMeo tells The Associated Press he can't talk about the others due to employee confidentiality.
DeMeo says the incident was captured on holding cell videotape and other deputies reported it.
