LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Las Vegas Strip dancer sobbed and described for jurors how his ex-girlfriend died in his arms during a heated argument at his house in December 2010.

Jason Omar Griffith said in court Thursday that he grabbed Deborah Flores Narvaez from behind in the crooks of his elbows as he fell backward.

Griffith says he was defending himself. He thought Flores was reaching for her purse, and that it could have contained a gun or a knife.

Griffith says Flores' hair was in his face as he pleaded with her to stop - that he didn't want to fight anymore.

Prosecutors will question Griffith on Friday about differences between what he told the jury and denials he gave police before Flores' dismembered body was found in January 2011.
