LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Clark County district attorney says former Boulder City Police Chief Thomas Finn didn't commit a crime when he told others to delete emails about preparations for a motorcycle club meeting last year.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson said in a Tuesday letter to state Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto that he believes Finn's intent was to prevent accidental distribution of sensitive information, not to permanently destroy public records.

Wolfson notes that Finn and Boulder City officials complied with a public records request, and Finn even had backup computer files searched for relevant emails that may have been removed from his inbox.

Finn says the decision shows he did nothing wrong.

Mongols lawyer Stephen Stubbs says Wolfson looked harder for a reason not to prosecute than to press charges.
