Woman Identified in Deadly I-15 Crash After NASCAR Race

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities have identified a 31-year-old Las Vegas woman killed in a crash that shut down southbound Interstate 15 for more than four hours while tens of thousands of fans were leaving a NASCAR race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Clark County coroner's officials say Rebecca Steeprow died following the crash about 3 p.m. Sunday near the Cheyenne Avenue exit.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says Steeprow's Volkswagen collided near Cheyenne Avenue with a semitrailer hauling hay. An exact cause of death hasn't been released.

The crash closed southbound lanes of I-15 and snarled traffic for fans leaving the Kobalt Tools 400.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports some fans used the delay to hold post-race tailgating parties in the parking lot.

Speedway officials say more than 100,000 people attended the race.
