NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 77-year-old pedestrian who died after being struck by a charter bus in North Las Vegas.
Clark County coroner's officials say Pablo Avila Sandoval died after the crash about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on West Cheyenne Avenue east of Clayton Street.
North Las Vegas police Officer Chrissie Coon says witnesses tell investigators they've seen the man walking in the area before.
Coon says Sandoval wasn't in a crosswalk when he was hit. The bus swerved to avoid other vehicles that stopped while Sandoval walked in the street with a wire shopping cart.
That's when the bus struck and killed him.
The 72-year-old driver and the other occupants on the Ryan's Express bus weren't hurt.
Police say it's unclear whether the driver will face charges.
