LAS VEGAS (AP) - Federal prosecutors say the controller for a firm that built several residential high-rises in Las Vegas and an alleged accomplice have been arrested and accused of stealing almost $6 million from the company over a five year span.
U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said Wednesday that Turnberry West Realty controller Hope Ippoliti and 54-year-old Rocco Lazazzaro are named in a 26-count indictment handed up Dec. 19.
Each could face decades in prison and millions of dollars in fines.
Lazazzaro appeared Friday before a federal magistrate judge in Las Vegas and was detained pending trial.
Ippoliti is due before a magistrate judge Wednesday.
The company built Turnberry Place, the Turnberry Towers Condominiums and the Stirling Club, as well as the Residences at MGM and the Town Square shopping center in Las Vegas.
