Brothers Get Prison in Henderson Teacher Slaying
LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 22-year-old was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison and his 21-year-old brother got 13 to 25 years for strangling a southern Nevada high school music teacher before stealing his car, laptop computers and a video game system in December 2008.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Jose Delatorre and Juan Aguirre expressed remorse at sentencing Tuesday by Clark County District Court Judge Valorie Vega.
The two brothers pleaded guilty in October to charges including second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy for killing Basic High School teacher Matthew Cox.
Delatorre was 18 and Aguirre was 17 at the time, and Aguirre was a student of the 32-year-old teacher.
They told Henderson police they choked Cox in his car, then placed his body on a couch before stealing items.
