Body Recovered in Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say the body of a 46-year-old Las Vegas man has been recovered from Lake Mead after he apparently drowned.

The National Park Service says the interagency communication center at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area received an emergency call late Saturday reporting a man had disappeared while swimming in the lake at Sandy Cove.

A dive team with the Las Vegas Metro Police Department joined the search Sunday morning. It found the body in the afternoon in 30 feet of water, and recovery efforts began.

The Clark County coroner's office identified the man as Kiangsak Ratana of Las Vegas. Authorities say witnesses told them Ratana wasn't wearing a life jacket while swimming.

The National Park Service is calling the death a "presumed drowning," and rangers are investigating the cause.
