LAS VEGAS, NV - Billboards with the message "Secondhand Smoke & Smoking DAMAGE BLOOD FLOW, END SMOKING IN CASINOS!" have popped up along Interstate 15 near the Las Vegas Strip.
The billboards are sponsored by Smoke-Free Gaming of America and targets individuals who are exposed to secondhand smoke and smoking, specifically casino employees and patrons.
The image on the billboard shows two fingers and a limp cigarette in between, showing the effects of smoking and secondhand smoke with decreased blood flow, which can lead to erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
A 2009 study conducted by Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions demonstrate the correlations between smoking and secondhand smoke and ED is evident.
The research showed that lab mice experience significantly weakened erectile function after being regularly exposed to cigarette smoke.
The billboard urges anyone exposed to secondhand smoke to take action and encourage casinos to go smoke free.
The billboards will be on display until the end of September 2013.
