HAWTHORNE, NV - An AMBER Alert was canceled Thursday night after the suspect was arrested in Mineral County.

Police say Sjon Singleton was abducted August 19th from Bishop, California by Angel Jacoba Schat, the boy's mother.

Two nights later, someone called Mineral County Sheriff's dispatch while following the suspect's vehicle near Walker Lake.

Mineral County Sheriff's Sergeant Perry and Deputy Fortier then initiated a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle near Hawthorne. They say the suspect resisted arrest, and deputies used force to subdue her.

Deputies say they found a plastic toy handgun in the car which Sheriff Stewart Handte described as "realistic looking." The suspect is awaiting extradition in Mineral County Jail on child abduction charges, and local charges may be pending.

Handte said, "I am very proud of my officers tonight for a great job done. This is what police work is all about. This is a good night for everybody, but especially for the little boy who is now safe."
